WHAT'S HAPPENING IN FEBRUARY IN SCOTLAND

FEBRUARY 2012

Happy February. Phew – that’s us past January, the most depressing month of the year to many. Snowdrops are out, spring flowers are peeping through the ground. It’s still as cold as ever so enjoy the dark cold nights by staying in. Catch up with all your DVDs you’ve never watched and all the books on your shelf you’ve never got round to reading.

Shooting Season ends ….

Shooting season comes to an end for these: partridge (1st), pheasant (1st), red hinds (15th), fallow doe (15th), sika hinds (15th), wild duck and geese (20th), roe doe (29th)

… but alas Fishing Seasons begins

Saturday 4th National ‘Eat Ice Cream for Breakfast' Day

I’ve no idea who started this but sounds like a good idea. Many supermarkets sell Swedish Glace ice cream. Holland and Barratt and health food shops sell that and other brands. Tuck in.

Saturday 11th February

Club Noir burlesque club celebrates Valentines with “Saturday Night at the Movies”.  This is definitely not just a couples-only Valentines night. It really is for everyone. And for fun and for charity – if you’re single you can buy a badge for £1 that says “I’m single and eligible, and you can speak to me”. All info at www.clubnoir.co.uk/calendar

Tuesday 14th Valentines Day

Just cos it’s the recession doesn’t mean you can’t be romantic.  Libraries have displays of romantic books. Read romantic poetry out loud or some steamy chapters from a bodice ripper.  A bubble bath with washing up liquid (hide the bottle!). Ditch the booze – don’t let it hamper your senses.  Serve all food heart shaped. Wear anything in your wardrobe that’s red or pink.  Go for a walk in nature – even if it’s raining it means you can snuggle under the umbrella.  All free.

If you’re single and want romance, find yourself a love spell. Here’s one that might work for you which doesn’t need anything fancy

And if you’re single and love it that way then show love and thanks to your family and friends. And Yes show love to yourself. Have a pampering night – home spa, fave films and books and music.

Wednesday 22nd – Start of Lent

Lent in 2012 will start on Wednesday, the 22nd of February and will continue for 46 days until Saturday, the 7th of April.  Give animals and your organs a break and ditch meat or dairy.  If you want help – we have a Vegan Buddy and Vegetarian Buddy scheme.
